Users review: I would have thought it doubtful that anyone could have anything new to add to the sci-fi film sub category of travel time. After seeing Looper yesterday, im happy to report that Rian Johnson removed doubts and gave me hope that Hollywood Sci-Fi can be more than just empty spectacle.First off I want to say, nothing can fail discouraged from seeing the movie if you think it's going to be too complicated or difficult to follow. To follow the story and identify character motivation requires some concentration, but not to the point that you will enjoy the action beats and other elements. The more visceral story is well developed information and plot points are presented in a fun and well die , mt pace. There are some nice little disposed visual references and metaphors, if you catch it, add a nice texture to the story and stop it feeling too clinical in its plotting. The script is tight, hard edged and very dry in its humor, the actors are ridiculous. I think it is fair to say that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is well on its way to becoming a vision, dolls Bruce Willis back to life, clearly enjoying himself again, (although I would not say that it is just Bruce Willis in a movie sense). It is a brilliant viewing experience, it is a completely original and fun idea, the writer / director managed to successfully transpose the film without, it appears to a layman pressure or interference from external sources. No no matter how much of a good time watching this movie already (and you will), the Hollywood stand to learn more from it.
