Users review: Lee Daniels Butler (2013) *** 1/2 (out of 4) View the fifty years of American history through the eyes of Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), a black man, he saw his father was killed when I was a kid, but manages to free camp algodó ; ny serve as a butler at the White House for eight different presidents. Director Lee Daniels is a very important topic and manages to make it interesting for most people. I say this because the film seems to be under attack for being too dominant, but I thought the director did a very good job of telling the story in a way that many can enjoy. It certainly does not hurt that you have Whitaker became one of the best performances of his career as a butler to see grow and change throughout American history. The film is mostly in Forest Gump feel as we move through the early days when blacks are still working in cotton fields in the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War and, of course, incidents that Nixon got into. I really thought that the director he managed to say a particular aspect of the story and keep it very interesting at all times. Some people call the movie racist, but really? Cmon now. Performances are definitely the highlight of the film with Whitaker do a wonderful job. I really liked how the script was changing him throughout his life as a real person, and I think it fully reflects Whitaker. Whitaker possible, as you bring in these activities, as well as take care of their personal history, where the heart of the picture is. Cast includes strong performances by Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Terrence Howard, and a wide range of cameos Clarence Williams III, Robin Williams, Vanessa Redgrave, John Cusack, Olivia Washington, Liev Schreiber, Alan Rickman and Jane Fonda, among other . I must say, I thought it very strange that none of the actors were not really made a sound or look presidents who played. LEE DANIELS Butler, of course, had its director tender love and even at 132 minutes, it never feels long overdue.
