Users review: White House Down (2013) 1/2 (4) To quote Roger Ebert: I hate, hate, hate this movie. Latest Roland Emmerich disaster is about COP (Channing Tatum) who takes his daughter on a tour of the White House in a terrorist take over and try to take (Jamie Foxx) hostage President. Now COP, daughter really can not stand him, you try to impress her with saving the day and his favorite president. For starters, go watch OLYMPUS down as an action movie and treat the same subject much better. Im sorry but if Emmerich is making a movie back in the 70s they would be lucky to play a third bill to drive right before sunrise. I really can not wrap my mind around how someone could make such a bad movie sequence. Is he doing this on purpose? Surely he did not make this film without any bad purpose. Everything from story to acting against CGI effects just totally wrong and all this must Emmerich style rear. I mean, that we could actually find this movie touching and patriotic? Foxx character clearly inspired by Obama but if it was meant to be a tribute then they fail because he comes across as a really embarrassing. Even worse is the comedy bits, which includes some of the worst one-liners that you'll ever hear. Even worse horrific action scenes with some of the worst looking CGI action influences that youre going to see the SyFy production. Then, you have a terrible subplot dealing with a teenage daughter who police complete brat but they tried to make it as a sort of patriotic heroes. All of this bit of the story is just a complete shame and makes me cringe when I watch it. I wont scream but only actress capable of really bad that the director put in nearly as bad and Jaden Smith in AFTER EARTH. Let us pray that the two never joined. Both Tatum and Foxx obviously just taking a salary and great character actors like James Woods, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Allen Jenkins just wasted the valuable role. There are some moments here that are so very bad that I could not help but laugh at them but unfortunately the film runs too long to enjoy it as a pretty terrible movie with a laugh.
